My Health Journey with Wounded Warrior Project

​I am a proud member of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and a Service-Connected Disabled Veteran with a 100% VA Disability Rating. A while back, I enrolled in WWP’s Physical Health & Wellness Coaching Program—a life-changing step toward a healthier me. For me, this program represents more than just another routine. It’s the start of a new beginning.

What the Program Means to Me:
​With the support of licensed dietitians, nutritionists, certified coaches, and other professionals—and alongside fellow warriors on their own journeys—I’m finally taking charge of my health. Each of us is unique, with personalized goals, custom health plans, and different starting points. This is my path forward.

Upcoming Milestone:
The program is already in progress online, but the real excitement is building for July 10–12, 2025, when I’ll travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to physically meet my coach, Dana Radford, and connect in person with the team and fellow warriors. I'm super pumped! This is something I’ve truly needed, and I’m determined to make the most of it.

WWP Outpost & Online Courses:
WWP offers access to the Outpost, an online platform where I’ve started taking courses on nutrition, PTSD education, lifestyle changes, and healthy habits.

Here’s a snapshot of what I’ve learned so far:

💧 Daily Hydration Goal:

• My Weight: 217 lbs
• Calculation: 217 ÷ 2 = 108.5 oz of water/day

🥦 My Chosen Eating Style: Vegetarian Dietary Pattern
Focuses on:

• Fresh fruits and vegetables
• Whole grains
• Legumes, beans, nuts, and seeds
• Non-fat dairy, eggs, and plant-based alternatives
• Minimally processed foods

🥚 Protein Intake (Daily Goal):

• Weight in kg: 98.82
• Recommended Intake: 98.82 × 0.8 = 79.06 grams of protein/day
• Calories from Protein: 79.06 × 4 = 316.24 calories/day

🎯 My Health Goals:

• Control blood pressure
• Prevent diabetes
• Support brain health
• Improve overall health
• Get rid of my man boobs
• Lose all my belly fat
• Weight management
  • Target weight: 155–175 lbs
• Quit energy drinks
• Stop smoking & vaping
