Sign up to perform one poem (5 minutes or less) at our next online open mic by RSVP'ing a slot. We offer 25 guaranteed performance slots and 10 waitlist slots on a first-come, first-served basis. . Download Zoom, and make a sign with your IG handle and Venmo / Paypal link, in case fans want to tip you! The open mic is non-competitive, and there's no cover charge. If you'd like to perform during our online open mics, here are some tips and guidelines: We host a poetry open mic each Monday night at 8pm, and an open mic for all art forms on Thursday nights at 9pm. For each open mic, we offer 25 guaranteed performance slots and 10 waitlist slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Our online open mics are free for all participants, but your donations help us keep these events going; please consider donating at https://www.nuyorican.org/online-open-mic You can sign up for a performance slot on our website, where a link to the sign-up sheet will go live 24 hrs before the event. Once the sheet is full, we send a confirmation email to each artist who signed up; the confirmation email lists the order of performers for that event. Each performance slot lasts 4 minutes. During that time, you can perform one or several pieces. Please keep your camera and mic on throughout your performance. If technical difficulties limit your ability to use your camera or mic during the performance, please let us know beforehand by typing a message in the chat box. During or right after your performance, feel free to share your social media handles, website address, and/or Venmo or CashApp handles, if you want spectators to follow and support you. You can type those details into the chat box, or write them on a handwritten sign that you hold up to the camera. Please only share contact info that you are comfortable with the general public seeing. We value free speech, but please note that hateful content will not be tolerated; our staff will remove artists or spectators who perform, type or show hateful content. If you've signed up to perform, the host will call your name in order during the open mic. When you hear your name, please send us a message in the chat box so that our staff can find you and unmute your microphone. If the list is full - or if you don't want to perform, but you'd still like to watch - no need to register, just join us 5 minutes before the open mic starts by clicking on the event link, which you can find on our calendar page. Please note that we always prioritize performances by artists who have signed up beforehand, but if slots open up because registered artists don't show, we'll allow last-minute signups from members of the online audience.
