I hope you're enjoying my famous 1-Page Productivity Sheet. Since you're into optimization, time management and personal development like I am, I thought I'd share my HARD TIME MATH... ... and I wanted to share the #1 thing STEALING people's time and lives right now! When I taught this "hard time math," someone DM'd me with a ton of sad emojis and "I LOST sooo much time :(". I bet you can relate, we all can.... Ok, to the math... Did you know: The average person is spending over ONE HOUR on social media per day. (Just consuming not creating)... PLUS another 2-3hours watching television. FOUR HOURS on average, GONE. Every day. Let's do the math here... 4 hours lost per day, times 7 days per week = 28HRS per week. That's basically a part time job... It's literally 3.5 EIGHT HOUR WORKDAYS lost per week, So when people say, "I don't have time...." Hmm. Still, I know, maybe social media or TV isn't your issue? But what if you lose a few hours per day because of DISTRACTION, lack of GOALS, no PLAN, not enough discipline and drive?? Maybe you're just meandering without an agenda. If so, it has a HUGE cost to your life... Because let's continue with the math: Four hours lost per day over 30 days = 120hours = 15 WORKDAYS PER MONTH LOST. That's incredible, right? So the average person actually has over 15 EIGHT HOUR days LOST... every single month. This means that they could have TWO MORE WORK WEEKS per month, focused on their passion, family, health, whatever, per month! Now maybe you only "lose" just 2hrs per day to distraction and social media. That would still be 7.5 eight hour workdays GONE each month. That's still 90 full 8hr DAYS gone per year (that's 3MONTHS GONE!). That's not just time away from work. It's time away from your PURPOSE, your FAMILY, your JOYS, your adventures, your LEARNING. I know, I know... every time I share this (and I've taught this basic math to millions of people since the iPhone came out - time goes by haha)... someone says, "But I want to enjoy life, Brendon! I don't want to be a work robot! I like social media and TV! Why are you so demanding of focus, when life is hard and I just want to chill!" And I say, YES, please do chill! Please enjoy life! Please meander and wander and consume stuff that sparks your creativity, joy, growth. Please rest. Please take time for yourself. Just be alert to the SHORTNESS of LIFE. Just be alert to how little time we have to grow and manifest our dreams. Just be alert to wasted time on social media consuming drama and junk that actually makes you FEEL BAD not TRULY EMPOWERED. (You *say* you like social media, but over a decade of research says it causes low-level stress, increased comparison and judgement, and worse patterns in eating, sleeping, and getting along with others. "Not me, though, Brendon, not me!"). Believe it or not, I do *not* have judgment against social media. I probably met YOU there?? I'm blessed with over 5 million fans, 500 million video views, 100m downloads... socials allow me to reach people. But believe it or not, I barely ever consume - Instead I create content and training for you every day in GrowthDay, my personal growth and success system. I teach this MATH because it's important to just be attentive to your GOALS and what you REALLY want of life. Because none of us, EVER, had a vision board with a photo of us lying in bed, mouth agape and neck strained, staring up at a phone! So, that's why I'm really cheering you on to take advantage of my special invitation to get my time management and productivity masterclass training for just $10. Isn't your progress and productivity worth ten bucks? (please please say YES!) What would happen if you doubled your output, while still increasing your excellence and the joy you have in life? What if by using the strategies you will learn in these courses you got back a few more hours a month - more time FOCUSED ON YOUR GOALS, more time MOTIVATED, more time growing into your best self? I say it's worth it. And if not, just ask for a refund within 30days no prob. Let me train you on productivity like I do with my celebrity clients, teachers, entrepreneurs, Olympians, CEOs. But right now, the only thing standing between you and your own personal quantum leap… Is your mindset. But while some may want to hide from this fact… …I consider it good news… Because you can have a quantum leap once you learn how. See, a Quantum Leap is when an area or every area of your life experiences drastic improvement. And I’m not talking about small incremental growth. But rather making your annual income your monthly income… …achieving every massive goal you set your mind to. And yes. You can do this because quantum leaping is a habit you can build. The truth is… Most people don’t experience them because they’re not in the habit of creating them. But you CAN create them (and stick to them as well). And in fact… There's one key factor that will lead to experiencing your own Quantum Leap in the next 12 months if you deploy it. You have to want something worth quantum leaping for. Something so massive it would alter your entire life. And something so incredible it would create a radical departure from your current behavior. And this is essential because, without a clearly defined goal, you’ll never alter your behavior. I had a client ask me recently, “How do I know I have a real goal? A goal worthy of me? Worthy of making the changes?” And my answer was simple. Is it altering your behavior? Because when push comes to shove… …That’s how you’ll know if you have a real goal or not. See, true goals alter your behavior. And once you begin setting goals like this? You’ll form the habit of having quantum leaps year after year. So, here’s my question to you. Are you operating with a clearly defined goal? Is it big? And will it drastically change your life? Once you answer that and adust, you’ll begin to experience Quantum Leaps, and your life will never be the same. The Hidden Pitfalls Of Perfectionism
Your need to be “perfect” is rooted in your fear of disappointing people. It’s a form of people pleasing.
The truth is, you can’t please everyone. It’s impossible!
Let’s talk about how you can stop trying to by discussing 👇
The Problem With Being Perfect
The benefits of adopting a
"Rise and Grind" mentality in your
personal and professional life
The benefits of adopting a "Rise and Grind" mentality in your personal and professional life
One of the biggest benefits of waking up early is that it allows you to get a head start on your day. By waking up an hour or two earlier than usual, you can spend some time working on your most important tasks before the rest of the world wakes up. This can help you feel more productive and accomplished, which can lead to increased motivation and a greater sense of satisfaction.
When you wake up early, you have more time to take care of yourself. This could mean spending some time meditating, practicing yoga, or going for a run. By prioritizing self-care in the morning, you can set a positive tone for the rest of your day and feel more energized and refreshed.
Adopting a "Rise and Grind" mentality can also have a positive impact on your mental health. By waking up early and starting your day with intention, you can reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. Additionally, the sense of accomplishment that comes from completing your most important tasks in the morning can help boost your mood and increase your overall sense of well-being.
When you adopt a "Rise and Grind" mentality, you open yourself up to more opportunities. By waking up early and being productive, you may have more time to pursue your passions, start a side hustle, or network with like-minded individuals. This can lead to increased success both personally and professionally.
"SELF-DISCIPLINE"
by:
Aiden D. Kirchner
Self-discipline is the ability to control one's actions, thoughts, and behaviors to achieve goals. It's important for entrepreneurs to be self-disciplined because it helps them:
- Stay focused and motivated
- Stick to their decisions
- Improve their approach
- Transform into doers
Here are some tips for improving self-discipline:
- Commit to your calendar
- Put up visual inspiration
- Set clear goals and adhere to specific plans
Self-discipline in entrepreneurship refers to controlling one's actions, thoughts, and behaviors to achieve specific goals and objectives. Willpower enables entrepreneurs to stay focused and motivated, even in the face of obstacles and challenges.
What is Self-Discipline for Entrepreneurs
It’s not just about scheduling and following a to-do list, it’s about the grit to stay on course when doubts creep in, setbacks occur, or the road to success becomes steep and winding. An entrepreneur can become their best self, focus on their goals, remove temptations, and consistently make choices that align with their business objectives.
This kind of self-discipline is the backbone of entrepreneurship, fueling the drive that transforms an idea on paper into a thriving, real-world business. It’s about making the hard choices, taking the high road, and working toward your goal, no matter how challenging, because you know it’s part of the journey to achieving your business dreams.
What Are the Benefits of Self-Discipline in Business?
Self-discipline significantly contributes to improved decision-making in business. Entrepreneurs who have managed to develop the self-discipline habit are often better at weighing their options, assessing the potential outcomes, and making informed decisions that align with their long-term business goals.
Instead of giving into impulsive reactions or getting swayed by emotions, they maintain a clear, calm mind that enables them to analyze situations objectively. This objective analysis often leads to decisions that are beneficial for the business in the long run. Moreover, they feel in control and are more likely to stick to their decisions, even in the face of adversity or opposition, which provides stability and consistency in the business’s strategic path.
Self-discipline is a key player in maintaining motivation, particularly in challenging times. Entrepreneurs often face obstacles and roadblocks on their path to success, which can be demotivating and disheartening.
However, learning how to build discipline equips them with the mental resilience and unwavering focus to stay committed to their vision and continue trying to achieve their goals. They will start seeing these obstacles not as insurmountable setbacks, but as opportunities for growth and learning.
Through self-discipline, self-disciplined entrepreneurs establish a consistent routine and set achievable goals, incrementally moving closer to their larger objectives. This sense of progress, however small, acts as a powerful motivator, reigniting their passion and driving them forward. Moreover, individuals with high self-discipline practice self-care, ensuring they’re physically and mentally equipped to handle the rigors of their journey.
Self-discipline serves as the foundation of effective time management, a crucial skill in the entrepreneurial realm. Balancing a multitude of tasks and priorities, entrepreneurs often face time constraints. However, those with a disciplined mindset utilize their time efficiently, ensuring every moment is productive. They establish clear, achievable goals and implement systematic routines to attain them.
These routines act as a roadmap, guiding their actions and enabling effective navigation throughout the day. By staying focused on the task at hand and resisting distractions, disciplined entrepreneurs minimize procrastination and remain steadfast in pursuit of their goals.
They recognize the value of time as a precious resource, allocating it judiciously to tasks aligned with their business objectives. Time-blocking methods are common among disciplined entrepreneurs, dedicating specific blocks of time to different tasks to enhance focus and efficiency.
Self-discipline serves as the guiding compass for entrepreneurs, directing them toward their business goals. It cultivates unwavering focus, enabling entrepreneurs to stay aligned with their ultimate objectives despite the inevitable distractions and challenges. This unwavering discipline ensures that every decision, action, and resource is devoted to accomplishing these goals.
It encourages entrepreneurs to prioritize tasks directly linked to their objectives while avoiding activities that hinder progress. Even when faced with tempting opportunities promising immediate benefits but diverting from their goal-oriented path, disciplined entrepreneurs possess the fortitude and clarity to stay on course.
They understand that every step taken in the right direction, no matter how small, brings them closer to realizing their dreams.
Being self-disciplined is a powerful catalyst for time efficiency in the entrepreneurial journey. Disciplined entrepreneurs excel in prioritizing tasks, allocating their time and attention to activities that deliver maximum value. They establish a rigorous daily routine to stay on track, breaking down complex tasks into manageable, baby steps and approaching them with precision.
This systematic approach eliminates wasted time, prevents overwhelm, and maintains focus. Moreover, disciplined entrepreneurs skillfully resist distractions, whether it be superfluous meetings, endless email chains, or the allure of social media.
They recognize that these diversions erode precious time, impede progress, and blur their focus. By upholding a disciplined approach, they safeguard their invaluable time, deploying it strategically to advance their business goals.
Practicing self-discipline can lead to the cultivation of new, beneficial habits while simultaneously eliminating detrimental ones. As an entrepreneur, your daily habits can significantly impact your productivity and business growth.
People who demonstrate regular self-discipline understand this and proactively shape their routines to include habits that foster success. They establish a habit of rising early, setting the tone for a productive day, and consistently dedicate time to self-improvement, whether through reading or acquiring new skills.
These good habits, born from self-discipline, reinforce the discipline itself, creating a virtuous cycle of growth. Moreover, self-discipline helps break away from harmful habits that may hinder your entrepreneurial journey, such as procrastination, disorganization, or neglecting self-care. Disciplined entrepreneurs have the control and resolve to gradually eliminate these harmful patterns, paving the way for progress.
Self-discipline often empowers entrepreneurs to tackle and overcome challenges with relative ease. Entrepreneurship is a journey riddled with obstacles, each one presenting its unique challenge. However, a disciplined mindset equips entrepreneurs with the resilience and determination required to confront these hurdles head-on.
Disciplined entrepreneurs view challenges not as roadblocks, but as opportunities for growth and self-improvement. They maintain a focused, positive outlook, refusing to be derailed by temporary setbacks. Instead, they use these experiences to learn, adapt, and strengthen their resolve.
They employ discipline to maintain their momentum and stay committed to their goals, irrespective of the challenges that lay ahead. This ability to weather storms and bounce back from adversity is a testament to the power of self-discipline in overcoming challenges, thereby paving the way to entrepreneurial success.
Self-discipline means greater personal gratification, a crucial element in the entrepreneurial journey. It is the discipline that drives entrepreneurs to persist, even when the going gets tough, knowing that the fruits of their labor will be worth the effort.
This self-command guides them to delay short-term pleasures in favor of long-term success, creating a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that fleeting pleasures can’t match. It’s the satisfaction of seeing your vision come to life, of meeting and surpassing your goals, of building something from the ground up.
The feeling of achievement derived from setting a challenging goal and then working diligently to attain it, is unparalleled. Furthermore, entrepreneurs find satisfaction not just in the end goal, but also in the process. They take pride in their ability to stay focused, manage their time effectively, and make progress each day. This ongoing sense of fulfillment and satisfaction fuels their drive, helping them maintain their self-command and stay the course.
Self-discipline is one of the ways to cultivate and exercise self-control, two highly important traits in the world of entrepreneurship. Disciplined entrepreneur retains a clear focus on their goals, not allowing themselves to become side-tracked by distractions or temporary setbacks.
They understand the importance of consistently channeling their efforts towards activities that contribute to their goals. This unwavering concentration ensures that all resources, including time and energy, are optimally utilized for business growth.
Disciplined entrepreneurs can keep their emotions in check, ensuring that decisions are made in a calm, considered manner, based on factual information rather than emotional reactions. They resist the temptation of immediate satisfaction, choosing instead to invest in actions that yield long-term benefits.
Improving your self-discipline will undoubtedly change your perception of willpower, reframing it as a renewable and trainable resource rather than a finite one. Often, business owners view willpower as a fixed entity that, once depleted, is lost forever.
However, a disciplined mindset challenges this belief, treating willpower as a muscle that can be strengthened through regular exercise and self-command. The more you exercise your willpower in the face of temptations and distractions, the stronger it becomes.
This enhanced willpower then fuels further discipline, creating a positive feedback loop that drives consistent growth and progress. Moreover, developing self-discipline enables entrepreneurs to understand that moments of diminished willpower are not indications of personal failure but natural fluctuations in energy.
Instead of succumbing to these dips, they strategically employ self-command to navigate through them, utilizing breaks, rewards, and other methods to replenish their willpower reserves. Ultimately, self-command empowers entrepreneurs to effectively harness their willpower, enhancing their resilience, productivity, and overall success.
Staying Disciplined as a Business Startup
Becoming more self-disciplined as a startup owner involves establishing clear, realistic goals and being relentless in their pursuit. Every decision, big or small, should be fueled by and aligned with these goals. This unwavering focus serves as a compass, guiding the startup toward its destination.
Moreover, discipline in a startup context involves meticulous planning and effective time management. Prioritizing tasks based on their impact and urgency, setting boundaries to avoid burnout, and managing resources efficiently are all hallmarks of a disciplined startup.
Self-control also extends to learning and adaptation. In a dynamic business landscape, startups must have the discipline to continuously learn, adapt, and evolve. This involves staying abreast with the latest market trends, adjusting strategies based on feedback and performance metrics, and being open to new ideas and methodologies.
Lastly, self-control in a startup involves resilience. There will be inevitable setbacks and failures. However, a disciplined entrepreneur views these not as defeat, but as opportunities for learning and growth. They have the discipline to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and forge ahead, stronger and wiser from the experience.
So Why Is Self-Discipline Important in Entrepreneurship
In the startup realm, self-control guides entrepreneurs through myriad challenges, promoting meticulous planning, effective time management, continuous learning, adaptation, and resilience in the face of setbacks. Undoubtedly, it is not only important but essential in entrepreneurship, serving as the driving force behind success and growth.

3 reminders as you pursue your life purpose
5 years later, I'm vocalizing those reflections with a big smile (and some laughs too, in a recent podcast, which I'll also be sharing with you today).
- Just because you're not "full-time", doesn't mean you're a failure.
- It's okay to doubt that this is "it" (and to pivot as many times as you like).
- Your friends and family don't have to get it because they will probably not be your main audience.
- I'm ready to live my purpose! Why won't the Universe send me any clients?
- How do I know if I should keep going, or if the Universe wants to me to move on?
- I'm passionate about my purpose and grateful to have some work but why am I not more successful?
- and more...

Ultimately, we’re all deeply interconnected, and we pick up on the ‘bad juju’ in the environments around us before even knowing it – and the end-of-year period can be notoriously tough on our nervous systems.

The answer is that we’re more susceptible to the influence of our Inner Critic – the mean, shadowy voice inside that drags us down into anxiety, self-criticism, and insecurity.
I know that I need a lot more gentleness and slowness at this time of year, and so do you most likely – so I decided to write this week’s article on self-kindness.
