AVON AND ME, |
From | Avon's direct selling system was developed by Mrs. P.F.E. Albee, our first Representative, in 1886. It was the first of its kind. As Mrs. Albee sold perfumes door-to-door, she recruited a team of saleswomen. Direct selling offered women a chance to work outside the home in an era when they had few opportunities to do so. Avon's first catalog appeared in 1896 with no illustrations. The first full-color catalog was issued in 1905. Avon was also early, relative to most competitors, to launch an e-commerce site in 1996. Our latest tech tools include the Digital Catalog - a revolutionary way to shop with our try-it-on technology and shade finder tool. Try it now! And Representatives enjoy Studio 1886, their very own business center and state-of-the-art office - a new space to work and play in an elevated beauty experience. |

What does the World Cup mean to you? Excitement and pride – or fear of your partner?
This year, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence coincides with the world’s biggest men’s football event. For many, such sporting events are a time of great camaraderie, community, and national pride. But for those in an abusive relationship, it can also be a dangerous and fearful time. Regardless of winning or losing, domestic violence cases can increase by 26% .
Make no mistake. Football doesn’t cause domestic abuse, and it is never an excuse. But just like COVID lockdowns or the holiday season or alcohol consumption, the tournament can aggravate or exacerbate pre-existing abusive behaviors.
1 in 3 women globally experiences abuse in their lifetime [2] – statistically, we all know someone who has experienced or is currently experiencing abuse, so all of us can make an impact in tackling gender-based violence.
That’s why Avon and No More have joined forces to encourage fans around the world to say #iamasupporter of ending domestic abuse. We’ve developed resources with information on the signs of abuse and how to support friends or loved ones who may be experiencing it, during the World Cup and beyond.
Our social media campaign, running throughout the World Cup, highlights matches each day and directs people in those countries to a toolkit that they can safely and easily download. The toolkit not only helps to increase understanding of domestic violence, but it also offers information on what to say to someone you know who is experiencing abuse and what you can do to help them.
It can be challenging to know what to say, what to do, and how to ensure their safety. By downloading the #iamasupporter toolkit, we can all be more prepared. We can listen without judgment and offer practical support, from a safe space to store important documents to a professional helpline.
Understanding more about domestic violence, and raising awareness is crucial to helping to end it. Join us during the World Cup and beyond, to say #iamasupporter of ending domestic abuse. Every conversation, every share on social media, and every download of the toolkit is a winning goal against gender-based violence.
Domestic violence can surge at the sound of the last whistle. If someone you know is experiencing abuse, show #IAmASupporter by sharing local resources or just listening to them. #16Days
Woman Power: Our new podcast series investigates female power over 40.
What does ageing mean to you? Something to fear – or something to embrace? In our new podcast series, we meet five talented women from the world of beauty, media and business. They share their positive experiences of life after 40, what impacts their sense of power as they age and their changing attitudes to beauty.
The podcast launch in partnership with Marie Claire UK follows our research that shows two thirds of women globally feel their confidence is improving as they age (67%) and how ageing is not something to fear (63%). In the wake of the pandemic, nearly three quarters of women (72%) now want to focus on looking healthy rather than young.
The Power in Ageing podcast series, which launches today across all major podcast platforms, is hosted by Andrea Thompson, Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire UK, and features her conversations with:
- Anna Whitehouse (AKA MotherPukka), 41, is a podcast host, broadcaster, influencer and campaigner. She talks passionately about campaigning for flexible working and how men need to be allies in the fight for gender equality.
- Poorna Bell, 41, is an award-winning journalist, motivational speaker, published author and powerlifter. Poorna’s husband passed away by suicide while she was still in her thirties. Poorna explains how powerlifting helped her through her grief and challenges the stereotypes which hold other women back from weight training. The conversation also touches upon mental health, gender equality and racial discrimination.
- Michelle Griffith-Robinson OLY, 50, is an Olympian, life coach, and personal trainer. Michelle explores how she has helped other women achieve their ambitions through her work as a life coach, as well as the impact of the perimenopause and the challenges in navigating this life stage.
- Ntsiki Biyela, 44, is South Africa’s first black, female winemaker and two-time finalist for ‘Most Influential Women in Business and Government’ award. Ntsiki discusses how she overcame prejudice by spotting untapped potential within it!

She is now a Sales Leader and was awarded ‘Star of the Year’ at the UK’s annual Direct Selling Awards in March 2022.
