RED Friday is an informal campaign that involves wearing red on any given Friday to show support for deployed troops. The campaign is also known as Red Shirt Friday

RED Friday was first observed in the early 2000s, shortly after military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq began. It's believed to have originated with students at Mansfield University in April 2015.

The concept behind RED Friday is to:

Wear a red shirt on any given Friday
Show respect and support for troops and veterans
Honor United States service members currently deployed overseas
Show support for the men and women of the U.S. military

The informal motto for RED Friday is, “Just wear red and tell your friends why!”
